I haven't the slightest clue why I was brought to...? [What does she even call this place? A forest? A paradise? She doesn't feel entirely settled with calling her new surroundings the latter. Something is definitely off. After all, hadn't she been in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts a moment ago?

Crossing her arms over her chest, she presses her lips together, a determined glint in her eyes.]

My name is Hermione Granger and I know for a fact that I did not choose to come here. Nor did I choose to have wings fastened onto my back.

[That part is quite curious. Bringing her somewhere against her will is one thing, but attaching wings to her back without her realizing it is another. She wonders if she had been rendered unconscious for awhile.]

Is there any way to rid myself of them? They are...cumbersome. [Not to mention they make her feel like a walking target.

She lowers her voice and adds in an undertone:] It's a shame Luna didn't come with me. This seems like something out of The Quibbler.

[Rolling her shoulders to relieve some tension, she exhales.]

I have a number of questions for anyone who has the time. I've tried to speak to the villagers, but they're not terribly... [animate] ...helpful. I wonder if they're under some spell?

[Hermione shakes her head and shifts from foot to foot.]

I would sincerely appreciate any aid. Thank you.

My Housemates [and everyone else] weren't too fond of it.

Oh well. You learned from it and I'm assuming you got over it.

I learned better. I suppose it was a defense mechanism.

I'll just keep being defensive if that's the case. If anyone minds then they can deal with it.

[ It's completely what she does, being in control helps make things easier for her. Not that she'd admit it. ]

I wish I had been as confident and certain about myself as you are when I was younger.

How old are you? You can't be that much older than me. [ A pause. ] I stopped aging after I died, though, so I still look like I'm 17.

I'm eighteen. [A pause.] You...died? How?

Same. I'll be 19 soon. [ End of July is her birthday. ] It doesn't really matter, does it?

It won't be long before I'm 19 too. [Her birthday is in September.] Death isn't something to take lightly.

When? Everyone around here likes parties, you'll probably get one. [ Yuri's tone gets a little indignant at the suggestion that she takes it lightly. She doesn't want to talk about it, though. ] I didn't do anything stupid or kill myself, don't worry.

It's...the 19th of September. [Not that close, in game time, but not terribly far away either.] I'd think a death, no matter what caused it, would be...traumatic? I never asked Harry how he felt after he came back from...it. He must have felt strange.

Hmm. Well maybe you'll get to do something then. You're not that much younger than me. Though my years probably don't count since I don't think I can age, even here.

[ She doesn't think so anyway. She hasn't been here long enough to really tell. Not even a year yet. ]

So when you meet a new person who died and you think it's traumatic, your first response is to ask them to spill their deepest darkest traumatic experiences? [ She doesn't sound mad or anything. Just honestly curious. ]

In a way, that's helpful. At least you can concentrate on...everything...rather than a changing body. [But it's sad too. Hermione looks forward to her future. Even growing old doesn't bother her. Yet Yuri will never experience that.]

...I... [She sighs softly.] I'm a naturally curious person. If you don't feel comfortable talking about it, we don't have to.

[ Yuri's long since accepted that she doesn't have an actual future. ]

In which case, I'm passing on the conversation!

Fair enough. [But now she feels awkward.] I guess I should get settled in.

You probably should. Head over to the welcome center, view the maps, get some real-people clothes, all the normal stuff.
