I haven't the slightest clue why I was brought to...? [What does she even call this place? A forest? A paradise? She doesn't feel entirely settled with calling her new surroundings the latter. Something is definitely off. After all, hadn't she been in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts a moment ago?

Crossing her arms over her chest, she presses her lips together, a determined glint in her eyes.]

My name is Hermione Granger and I know for a fact that I did not choose to come here. Nor did I choose to have wings fastened onto my back.

[That part is quite curious. Bringing her somewhere against her will is one thing, but attaching wings to her back without her realizing it is another. She wonders if she had been rendered unconscious for awhile.]

Is there any way to rid myself of them? They are...cumbersome. [Not to mention they make her feel like a walking target.

She lowers her voice and adds in an undertone:] It's a shame Luna didn't come with me. This seems like something out of The Quibbler.

[Rolling her shoulders to relieve some tension, she exhales.]

I have a number of questions for anyone who has the time. I've tried to speak to the villagers, but they're not terribly... [animate] ...helpful. I wonder if they're under some spell?

[Hermione shakes her head and shifts from foot to foot.]

I would sincerely appreciate any aid. Thank you.

[This friendly looking guy is lazing in the woods like the hippie he is when he hears your video and thus opens his journal to respond only to gasp when he recognizes you. He won't ever say it, but he's read the books you're from in his world. He knows immediately that spoilers are exactly that and so he'll pretend to have never known a thing about you at all.]

Welcome to the nicest cage you'll ever inhabit is all I can say. Free everything whenever you want it but you can never leave and sometimes people go missing for a while.

If you wanna talk to anyone, talk to the villagers who look aware of their surroundings. I'm not sure I fit the bill, but I try.

[It's probably best that Hermione doesn't know she's from a book in other worlds/universes. That wouldn't make her feel any better about the situation at hand.]

...cage? Can you expand on that? [People go...missing for awhile? Isn't that worrisome?] Where do they go when they disappear?

[Talking to him is better than her driving herself mad with theory upon theory that will probably lead to depression more than anything else.]

It's nice to meet you as well, Michael. I... [She pauses and examines the screen.] Are you in the forest too?

I am! I have a little campsite set up for myself with a fire pit and everything. It's pretty great.

[He almost gets distracted but then remembers the important stuff.]

Uh, but about people disappearing... there are apparently people keeping us here and they sometimes kidnap people and experiment on them. It's pretty crazy. I've only had one friend it's happened to so far but I imagine there will be others.

And as for why it's a cage, well... people are brought here from all over space and time without rhyme or reason and we can't leave. Also we get these little wings. Mine look like pigeon wings. They're sensitive and if you pull them it feels like getting kicked between the legs, so don't do that.

[Sounds familiar. Hermione can't say she's looking forward to more camping, but if she has to...]

What sort of experiments? [She frowns, paling at the mere idea of being experimented on against her will.] I really don't want to be involved in something like that. [She can't imagine anyone does.] Is there a way to [It's a long shot.] ...stop them?

[Her wings are given a wary glance.] What's the point of giving us wings? Do they even...work?

The wings are... I'm not even sure. I think I heard someone say they allow us to understand everyone but that doesn't make sense to me. I can get mine to flap with practice but I mean, look at them. They're so small they'd never lift me.

I don't know anything about the experiments other than that they happen at this point. I'm a little grateful for it, to be honest. I wouldn't want to end up in one. I hope there's a way to stop them but so far, if you think about it, these people brought us here without us even knowing how and gave us wings.

It makes you think just what else they could do without our even being able to think about it before it had already happened.

I thought... [She had understood the villagers perfectly. She had just assumed they were speaking English.] If English isn't the native language then something is helping us understand one another. I've never heard of wings serving as a transmitter, but I suppose it's possible?

[At this point, just about anything is possible. Hermione is certain she's in Luna Lovegood's world.]

Good point. [Now she has a headache.] I really don't want to contemplate what else they could possibly do.

I'll need a place to stay. Is lodging...free...in the village?

From what I've been told, Miss Granger, everything is apparently free. You can go find yourself a place to stay so long as it's not occupied and make it yours. The shops are pretty great for that, too.

Myself, I haven't seen any nature at all for ten years now so this? I wouldn't miss it. Camping is the best thing to restore the spirit.

Hello, Ms. Granger. I am Tarrlok and this place is Luceti. I suggest you do not touch the wings on your back. As someone who learned first hand, having them harmed in any manner is quite painful. In extreme cases it has been said that complete removal can cause death.

As for the explanation to this place...it may cause some confusion.

Don't try to get rid of the wings, though I'm sure someone warned you already. The most harm they do is make it really uncomfortable to sleep on your back.

Long story short Luceti is a place in a completely different world from your own, protected by a barrier that keeps anything from getting in or out without the Malnosso's permission. Most people here are from different worlds, including the Malnosso. Malnosso are guys who claim they're in charge here and they basically are because they're the ones who have all the power and we've basically got none. Well, some if you had some beforehand, but it'll be limited. You can't actually die here, if you do you'll come back with some serious side-effect of some sort. The Malnosso guys experiment on people after kidnapping them. It's supposedly so that they can find a way to get everyone home, but their experiments rarely ever seem to have to do with that. Oh and the barrier's up to protect us from the other bad guys outside who want to kill all of us instead of letting us keep here.

Other than that this place is basically a paradise if you get along with everyone. And yes, that was the short version. If you head over to the welcome center they've got a lot of information there too.

That's a relief, at least. [It's not like she has any money on her.] I've been camping for the most part of the year. I think living in a building would be a nice change.

[Though she used to enjoy it. For a vacation.]

[That is disturbing, but it's not the most important aspect of her predicament at the moment.]

Sleeping will be interesting. [Said dryly.] I'm already confused, so maybe an explanation could alleviate that some what?

[Hermione stays silent, listening to the explanation without comment. At the end, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. If only this was a dream.]

When you say powers are limited, what do you mean? Are they less powerful or are there certain things you simply cannot do? [Her Magic is important to her and knowing its limitations beforehand would be useful.] I'm...a Witch, you see, and I'd like to know what I can do before I attempt anything. I'd rather not become an experimental subject.

[She is already moving towards said welcome center - or so she hopes.]

The wings are cooler than cool, right? Who has wings slapped on their back like it's nothing? Someday I want to find out how they pull off the whole wing job thing.

[But anyway, moving on.]

I dunno what other people have been saying to ya' or whatever buuut if you still have any questions you can throw 'em over this way Hermione! I'll totally do my best to answer them all.

Camping definitely isn't a permanent thing for most people. I don't blame you for wanting a roof over head and some time off from the bugs. Personally, considering how long it's been, I'll deal with it a while longer.

[And he chuckles.]

I'm not really sure what it'd be with a witch. For me, I'd normally be able to recover from things like my head cutting cut off or things like that, but I can only heal from non-fatal wounds. So it'd probably be something like you can do basic magic, but not advanced-level stuff. Just go out to the forest and cast stuff on a tree until you find out what your limits are.

I would like to know how they managed it in the first place. [And without her knowledge.] I can't think of a spell or a - [She holds her tongue and shakes her head.] Never mind.

I have one that has yet to be answered: why were we brought here?

[That's...remarkable.] I've never met someone who could survive having their head cut off. Is that something I should worry about here?

[She nods, frowning.] I'll do that, thank you.

I used to camp with my parents and, generally, I love being outdoors, but - [It has lost its charm.]

I'd love a shower and a long nap.

Probably some sort of crazy automatic wing-adder that they set on you when you're asleep! Or some magical-techno thing. Anyway, onto your question!

[Give her a moment as she pulls up the guide on her journal and talks in a very posh sounding tone of voice.]

The Malnosso have brought you here inside this big ol' barrier, which we can't escape from, for the sake of experimentation, some sort of war is going on with some guys called the Third Party, blah blah blah, done.

Not survive. Last world was the afterlife. You can't die after you're already dead. [ A brief pause. ] Only if you get drafted, really.

At the very least, I've never heard about anything backfiring.

Very well. This place is Luceti, an enclosed area existing in a different world. You've been captured and brought here, along with many people from different worlds. There is more attached, but that is the basic rundown. The book you're holding in particular is a communication device.

The book actually reminds me of a Muggle computer. [She is turning said device around in her hands and examining it closely.] It's remarkable that so much technology could be put inside of such a small book.

[Point. Right.]

From what I understand, everyone is trapped except when you're removed for experiments? [She'd love to hear that's a lie.] What do you know about the beings who rule Luceti?

You were...dead? The dead can...

[She feels a little nauseous.]

Were you healthy when you arrived?

[Drafted?]

Well...that's a relief. [Sort of.] When you say "drafted", what exactly do you mean?

I sincerely hope it was a spell! [Otherwise...nightmares. Lots and lots of nightmares!] I don't want to imagine something undressing me and - [She visibly shudders, grimacing.]

Wait, wait wait. Who are the Malnosso and who are the Third Party?

Who said anything about undress-- Oooh yeaaah, the little white numbers you get stuck in when you first arrive... Yup, that's probably when they jam the wings on there! Strip you naked and wingify you!

[Even if that isn't the most pleasant of images Pascal just takes it all in stride.]

The Malnosso Organization are the guys who dragged everyone here and dropped us in this enclosure. They have leaders, CEOs, kinda like a businessy type of deal. The Third Party apparently want us all dead whilst the Malnosso want us alive... Man, this guide is like half info and half drama/action novel!
