I haven't the slightest clue why I was brought to...? [What does she even call this place? A forest? A paradise? She doesn't feel entirely settled with calling her new surroundings the latter. Something is definitely off. After all, hadn't she been in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts a moment ago?

Crossing her arms over her chest, she presses her lips together, a determined glint in her eyes.]

My name is Hermione Granger and I know for a fact that I did not choose to come here. Nor did I choose to have wings fastened onto my back.

[That part is quite curious. Bringing her somewhere against her will is one thing, but attaching wings to her back without her realizing it is another. She wonders if she had been rendered unconscious for awhile.]

Is there any way to rid myself of them? They are...cumbersome. [Not to mention they make her feel like a walking target.

She lowers her voice and adds in an undertone:] It's a shame Luna didn't come with me. This seems like something out of The Quibbler.

[Rolling her shoulders to relieve some tension, she exhales.]

I have a number of questions for anyone who has the time. I've tried to speak to the villagers, but they're not terribly... [animate] ...helpful. I wonder if they're under some spell?

[Hermione shakes her head and shifts from foot to foot.]

I would sincerely appreciate any aid. Thank you.

[Bananas look like valkines! Which are essentially these huge energy storing curvy things that stick out of the ground.

Lemme see... About three days? Buuut past-me was here before a year and four months ago so technically I've been here for who-even-knows how long!

[Let's be honest, Hermione probably knows about Star Wars. So forgive her while she stares at Luke and tries to determine if this is some kind of joke.

I'm not going to touch them. [Her wings, that is.] Do you...have powers? [That seems like the easiest way to ask "are you THE Luke Skywalker?!". He is nice enough that she doesn't want to come off as rude.]

I can show you how I duel with it. [That should help a little.]

I want to know how the worlds are put back together. I want to know what new laws are passed and if the oppressed are given their proper rights. That's...what I wanted to work on especially.

[Yes, yes he figured she would. He's been in Luceti long enough to just expect that people from Earth know him]

Good. And if you mean 'Are you actually the Jedi from Star Wars' then yes. Yes I am. Don't worry, its not that odd for me, its happened to me often enough that I'm used to it.

[His image smiles up at you]

Do you have powers, then?

[Hermione has never encountered a valkine. Though I'm sure she would be intrigued if she did see one.]

Do you have memories of that time before?

[Isn't that a bit backwards?] I'm sure that's a long story considering most people are in poor shape when they're dead. Unless, of course, you're a spirit.

[Oh yes. Those damn Colds.]

They have children fighting? And the elderly?

Thank you. [She smiles genuinely.] I appreciate all of the help and if I can return the favor, please let me know.

[A bright blush appears on her cheeks and she winces apologetically.]

I'm sorry. It's just... You are famous. [And fictional. Or so she thought. But that would be really rude to say.]

Y-Yes, I do. I'm not a Jedi or anything, but I am a Witch. [She holds up her wand.] I come from a world where Magic is hidden from those who don't possess it. [For the most part.] But, in the past couple of years or so, a war has obliterated the line between the two worlds - the Magical and the Non-Magical.

It's kind of hard to explain, but the short version is that the afterlife I ended up in isn't exactly the norm. You're only there until you find satisfaction, then you're reincarnated. Naturally, if you could stay hurt or get sick, you'd fall into one of the traps of life where you might end up absolutely miserable again. So, if you get hurt, no matter how badly you'll heal completely. You can't get sick. There aren't any hospitals, just a nurse's office with a couple of beds and no nurse because technically we shouldn't need them. Most of us were in better shape there than we ever were alive. Trust me, even though I'm here because they took me out of the afterlife, there'd still be a corpse somewhere in the ground in the world I was alive in. Or ashes. I'm not really sure, I wasn't there for it. [ A brief pause ] I hope it was one of those, anyway.

[ She nods. ]

The last draft they took a little girl who lives with me and a lot of the people I talk to normally. There aren't a whole lot of elderly people here though, so I can't say for sure about that. I doubt they'd care anyway. I can't say for sure, but I think if you get old and die from old age, you just come back younger again.

[Lee encounters a type of name he's not used to pronouncing.]

Greetings, Hermaini-san. I am Rock Lee, and I am also known as a "New Feather". I would be glad to help you in adjusting to this strange place.

Is that like "achieving Nirvana"? [Her expression falls as she hears those last words.] How else would your...remains...be handled? I thought corpses and ashes pretty much covered how most bodies are...taken care of.

[The whole topic makes her think of all of those bodies in the Great Hall. So many friends. So many people she wished she had gotten to know better.]

Children shouldn't be involved in a war! I can't believe they think that's okay. I won't stand for it. [If she can do anything about it at all. Maybe she could raise a public outcry?]

A witch? I've met a few Witches here, I understand the basics at least. Though I admit I'm sorry to hear about your world. War is never...the most pleasant of circumstances for two worlds to meet.

[She's used to it. Even native English speakers pause when they see her name.]

Hello, Rock Lee. [Maybe she'll correct him later. It's not that important.] You can call me Mione if that's easier.

It must be a little awkward, at least.

[She smiles faintly and walks slowly towards the village, holding her journal steady in the crook of her arm.]

Definitely not. Especially considering my best friend was chosen to put an end to it.

I thought...for a moment...that he hadn't made it.

It was at first, I've been here 8 months now though. I've actually sat down and watched the Star Wars films, with Obi-Wan and some other friends.

[He nods gravely]

[She would have loved to see that.] What did you think of them? I grew up watching them with my parents.

[Her eyes close and she looks tired.]

Yes. Somehow, he lived. [Thank Merlin.] And males who perform Magic are called Wizards in my world.

I thought they were alright. A bemusing look at my past.

[He takes a moment to add a filter]

However, since you've seen them, and you know who I am. You should know that my father is here, Anakin. He's...younger than I am, only twenty two and has yet to become Darth Vader. Should you see him, please understand that its something Obi-Wan and I have kept from him.

I'll keep it in mind should I meet a male Magician. Do you need any help? I make it my business to ensure New Feathers settle in as best as they can.

Nevermind, it'd be a pain to try to explain that sort of thing anyway. [ Mostly she'd have to say more than she wants to talk about. ]

No one in here really thinks it is and if you're planning on talking to the Malnosso, it won't work. They've got their own set of morals that include human experimentation. Sending a kid out to do the dirty work isn't something they really care about. It's just whoever the shifts are working with.

Seeing myself like that would be strange. [Irony.]

Oh...so he doesn't... [She nods stiffly, expression solemn.] I won't tell him anything. Thank you for letting me know. He shouldn't have to face his future yet. Maybe...

I need a place to stay. Do you know of any free spaces? I've heard they're free, at least, and I don't fancy sleeping in the forest.

I'm sorry. I guess you could say I'm naturally curious. [About everything.]

How many people are in Luceti? Is it a significant amount? [Because numbers could be useful.] I have no intention of approaching the Malnosso. I'd start with the foreigners first.

Maybe some other time. It's a story longer than the rest of the rambling I've done right now. [ And no one ever gets the end of the story anyway. ]

A pretty big amount. More than a hundred, I think. I can probably get a solid numeber for you a little later, I've got a guy. It depends on how many New Feathers we've got though-- New Feathers are people who just arrive, like you.

I'm coming from the south. Almost directly. Is that close for you?

Its not far at all. The village isn't the largest thing I've stayed in, its about the size of the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin.

[Already heading out the door, with his customary bottle of water and simple sandwich]

Were there any injuries on your transition here, and have you had a chance to read any of the guidebook?

You haven't been rambling, but I understand not wanting to tell your full story at once. [Or to a relative stranger.]

It's no wonder where the name originates. [A small, breathy laugh.] If there are more than a hundred of us with various powers maybe we could send a message to the Malnosso.
