It's amazing the difference a little rest makes. [She looks much better. There is more color on her cheeks, her wounds are either healed or healing and her hair has been Charmed so the frizziness is gone.]

Have you explored the village? If not, I think we should start there and then branch out into the less obvious attributes of Luceti.

I wasn't sure about this place when I first arrived, but it is proving to be quite fascinating. I almost don't mind losing some of my abilities [Or, rather, the intensity of them.] in order to meet those I never thought I would [More like: "could meet".].

If Luceti really is located in another dimension, it makes me wonder how many other dimensions there might be. Of course visiting them and keeping a tally would probably be a nightmare, but it is interesting to think about.

[She is slowly braiding her hair, sitting cross-legged in a chair. Over-all, she looks much better than she had on her arrival.]

[ Helios turns on his own feed to be polite. He gives Hermione a warm smile and a nod when she speaks. He'll hold up a hand and shake his hand with a light laugh. ] Oh, no, it's perfectly reasonable, and you're not offending me at all!

[ Helios nods at her question. ] Yes! I s-spoke to you about it. Well, um, another you. [ Still he would never mind talking about it again. ]

I, ah, I use m-magic among the many other people here. My friend Harry Dresden was thinking of starting a club for magic-users and non-magic users alike to-to learn from each other. It would definitely be like the DA and we could even join them together if you wanted! I don't think Harry would m-mind...

I did, how about you? I know adjusting can be tough at first.

...ahh, to be honest? I have no idea. I guess you were somewhere around my age, though. Sixteen.

I hate to say it, but we may not have much of a choice. No matter how beautiful this place may be, it's still a prison.

[She opens her mouth to say something. Either she was going to apologize or make some sort of protective retort: it doesn't really matter. The moment her hand is grabbed, she nearly loses her balance.]

[Seeing his smile puts her at ease. She even finds herself returning it with little effort.]

[Nodding, she takes in what he has to say before answering.]

If your friend [who curiously shares his name with her best friend.] doesn't mind hearing my ideas concerning the DA, I don't see why it couldn't be one group. The whole purpose of the DA was to teach Magic users how to properly defend themselves in battle. [Or just in general.] So I think it would pair well with learning how to utilize Magic in the first place.

So the people on Earth came to your world? How far is it from Earth?

[There's a first time for everything, apparently.]

I think my exhaustion helped. I don't remember anything after I laid down.

[She smiles a bit sheepishly, coming to a halt beside him.]

There's a line between being curious and being suicidal. [She sounds grim rather than accusatory.]

Well, I'd say there's about as many worlds out there as there all stars in the sky, but... that's just how it is where I'm from. Dunno if that applies to other universes or anything.

But it's good to see you again, Hermione! I know you probably don't remember me, but we spoke a few times before.

[Regardless of whether she remembers or not, he's still wearing a great big smile. Typical Ventus, really.]

I'd say - now that I know that's possible - it's very likely so many worlds exist. [Which is amazing.]

Thats probably good. Rest the first few days is usually wise. Overdoing it is dangerous, after all.

I've spent a year [longer] overdoing it. If I'm going to tackle the problems Luceti presents, I need to be rested.

I found an apartment not far from the clothing shop. [She hadn't been picky. It has a bed and a bathroom and a kitchen. That's all that matters at the moment.]

Yep! And as someone who's been to a whole bunch of those worlds, it's amazing how different they are.

Anyway, the name's Ventus. Ven for short.

...Yeah, it's way too hot for a jacket right now. If they bother you, maybe finding something with an open back might be good. A camisole or something like it might be good, that way you don't need to fuss with sleeves and fabric throughout the day.

It's not really the absolute distance that matters. There was a wormhole that connected Barrayar to Earth space, and that's what people used to get there.

Then our history got a little complicated, because the wormhole collapsed. Eventually -- try seven hundred years later of eventually -- another one was found in Barrayaran space, and we had to relearn space travel and all that sort of thing.

We're in a hot spring, where do you think we're going?

I dunno, someone here I think. [One of the maps is held up to the journal for Hermione to see.] Like I said, the Welcome Center had a ton of 'em! And that place is run by the guys here so you know it has to be the real deal.
